The Latin American Committee of Organizations representing Central and South American and Caribbean communities announce that they will join in the efforts of the Chicago May Day "Together we are the New Majority" coalition to endorse and mobilize for the May 1 march in Chicago.

“Today is Tax Day – and we are feeling it.

“We pay taxes in this country, but unlike many of those who filing returns tomorrow, many of our people who are undocumented will not get tax returns. Our social security taxes are saving a failing social security fund – but we are not eligible for social security.

“Meanwhile, Free Trade Agreements with our countries of origin have destroyed the livelihoods of our families there and we are paying double for the “family tax” in terms of money we must send back home.

“We are joining the march on May 1st to demand legalization, an end to the system of undocumented labor and a renegotiation of the Free Trade Agreements.”
